Dark Night of The Soul

Updated: Dec 24, 2019

Dark Night of The Soul, also known as “ego death”

Stages:

1. Experiences that feel like death. (The stage of understanding one’s separation from the Divine (light) and where you fall into darkness. It is to experience mortality, which is in human form.

2. Usually brought on by an external event/trauma.

3. You feel a deep internal conflict.

4. Loss or feels like a pause (Loss of identity).

5. Isolation (A different frame of mind takes hold).

6. Disconnection from old self (fear comes over you of who you are becoming).

7. Awaken to the 6th sense.

8. Discord (A desire to find peace from within takes hold).

9. Attention moves to healing, as one connects to the etheric body and thus connects the living macrocosm to the inner universe of the human psyche.

10. One begins to seek alignment.

11. Major shift occurs in our identity as we begin the process of shadow work.

A Dark Night of the Soul is usually triggered by a sudden event or something traumatic. Many people who talk about the dark night will describe it as something that brought them to their knees. In this time, you find yourself in a state of discord. You feel like your life is meaningless, and as if everything has gone “dark.” This state feels like complete and total hopelessness.

The dark night of the soul is a phenomenon that is experienced by individuals who are going through an awakening process. This process is that of a spiritual initiation into higher consciousness. It is the first phase of transition or ego death and a moving into a new awareness, one that is of the universal divine mind.

The experience of the dark night of the soul will rattle you to your core and it will forever change you as a person. It is a period of time of unimaginable pain, as you shed the layers of the ego (lower mind) and lower world.

Consequently, you go deeper into the transition process and into healing your inner child wounds, you start to develop your spiritual growth and spiritual understanding. This becomes your walk into the spiritual journey (See my Blog on the Spiritual Path, Titled Life and Death Part #2) as your perceived meaning of life gives way and the rise to emergence of the soul’s expansion opens your eyes to a new awareness.

You start to develop your 6th sense through the awakening of the third eye. Simultaneously, you become enlightened through “walking the path” as the experience of your spiritual walk unfolding. Your desire to connect to the higher realms and higher consciousness takes hold and becomes a deep desire of experience.

This is the time where one implements spiritual practices (such as meditation) and other activities are undertaken for the purpose of inducing spiritual experiences and cultivating spiritual development.

Spiritual practices or "rituals" will help move you in the way of your mission, which is different for everyone and the “figuring it out” is part of the journey.
